Google Fi is offering a strong S26 Ultra preorder discount, especially for existing Fi customers on Unlimited Premium or Flexible, with the 512GB model showing $650 off and free storage during preorder. The phone is factory unlocked, and the deal can be especially compelling if you sell or trade in a prior Ultra, since resale values often beat Fi trade in quotes. The main catches are the 120 day active service requirement, possible 21 day or first bill timing issues for new accounts, and taxes that may be charged on the full price in some states. A good fit if you can manage Fi timing and keep the line active.

Hi everyone,
I've had a Google Fi account for many months and I'm planning to upgrade to the Unlimited Pre mium plan. From what I understand, once I switch plans, I should be able to use the $650 promo within 24 hours. In my case, that would make the S26 Ultra 1TB $949 + tax.
I want to use the offer for both myself and my wife (group plan member).
We both have iPhone 15 and would like to do a trade-in.
But I noticed trade-in seems to only work once per order.
So my question is:
Can I split the orders
place one order for my phone with trade-in
then place a second order for my wife with her trade-in
Or does that cause issues with the promo or account?
Has anyone here done this successfully?
Thanks in advance!
You *Have* to split the order. It's advisable that you do your order from your account and your wife does a separate order from her account. I will also advice against not using crappy FI trade in but sell it locally for more

OK but I think you or someone else mentioned that you could turn off the new Fi eSIM after watching the 120 day counter go down by one day and you could use your external carrier, so long as it's not GFi? Also, I sent you a PM
Yeah, you can use FI phones with any carrier from day 1 as they are factory unlocked. It gets impossible/tricky if the other carrier is Fi.

Unfortunately, I already activated the Fi esim using a spare phone. I am also seeing the referral bonus countdown on my new Fi account.
I wasn't planning on activating the new S26 Ultra on the new Fi account. I was planning on activating it on my main Fi account. I know how bad Fi support can be. I'm hoping the $650 doesn't get clawed back if I go through with this.
You have to activate it on the account you purchased it from. There is no way around it.

I'm in a pickle!
I was on the promo for Unlimited Essentials and switched to the Unlimited Premium to take advantage of this deal. But it still says "Not eligible for offer" when I add to cart. Does anyone know a way around this, or has had it work for them?

I tried in incognito and I waited until the next day to no avail. 😢
I'm in a group and I moved all of us to Unlimited Premium. There's a person in the group who hasn't joined Fi yet, and the offer shows as available for them.
Because you are still on the 50 percent off unlimited essential promo on the backend system? Or it might take some time to void the current promo.

But all I'm doing is activating a brand new ESIM on a brand new Google Fi account on a eSIM capable iPhone I have sitting around at home (I don't have an ESIM capable Android phone at home currently), and then when I get the new Galaxy S26 in the mail I will activate that same ESIM on that phone, is that not a viable proposition to get the discount of $650 off the s26 ultra?
Yeah you should be good.

Got it. It appears if I go through with this, I will have to use the new Fi esim on the S26 Ultra and keep it there for 120 days? This could still be doable in my case as I can still use my main Fi eSIM on my current phone and just hold off on fully using the S26 Ultra until after 120 days.

Yeah, you could technically use two Fi accounts on that S26 ultra but it's a recipe to void the promo if you are not careful.

So am I doing the math correctly?

S26 Ultra
24 x $16.67 = $400 (phone)
24 * $20 = $480 (Flexible plan for 2 years)
Taxes. = ~ $100
Data accidentally used over 24 months = ~ $20
Total cost about $1,000

Thats paid over 2 years including a free "voice only" line from GoogleFi and the only catch is I cannot use my main sim in the S26U for 120 days.

Can someone please confirm my math? Thats like getting the phone outright for $900+sales tax. No?

Make a new account and avail the promo, pay one time, and stay 120 days on the plan.

I used to be a member but it's been like 2 years. I never paused the plan before. How does that work? Can i sign up again and pause it shortly after? How long can you pause the account for?
I missed out on the s25 ultra deal last year but have been doing it since the 22 when it was port in only.

I just reactivated my Google Fi account that's been disabled (not paused) for at least 36 months. I was able to get this S26 ultra deal, right after reactivating the same Google Fi account with the $20 flex line.

How does a new plan make a difference? What promo? sorry I am confused.

I am not a current customer, I had GoogleFi and got my S23Ultra using that back when you could cancel after 120 days. But that was over 2 years ago same Gmail account.

Sorry $650 for the Ultra??? Does that need 24 months of Flexible plan?

Thanks! I went ahead and ordered the S26 Ultra in Cobalt Violet. I will probably not install my main Fi esim until after 120 days. I'll be using only the new Fi eSIM in it for 2 months. I'll update this thread in case the $650 gets clawed back or if anything else goes wrong.
