I have bought a set of bumper plates from literally every "cheap" brand from Amazon & Walmart. NONE of them have had a smell last more than a week or three. Wipe them down with some simple all-purpose cleaner if it really bothers you.

You're correct. $.76/lb is not a great deal but it's been a while since we've seen $.50-.60/lb for a variety set. If you need plates now this is good enough.

Agreed---in the context of post-pandemic inflation AND tariff inflation, I wouldn't hold my breath for those 50-60 cents/lb prices of old. 😒
