i remember last year, people who did pre-order and mailed in their trade-in's were having issues with getting trade-in credit to show on their account, even after 2-3 months. Think i'm gonna go with trade-in at store again for this year.
If you look at my previous comment with screenshot, my test checkout page had the full $1130 credit ($430 + $700) for S26 to Ultra trade in. Did you confirm the reduced value at a store?
Did you use the S26 IMEI? For me when using some other IMEI it did reflect the 700 promo, but I wouldn't go with that since Assurant might flag it. Spectrum this time is removing the promo based on S26 IMEIs is my guess.
Not sure what exactly is going on, but when I tested S26 Base to Ultra trade in online, as an upgrade, I was seeing the full $1130 credit, until the very last order review page with place order button. FYI - I do not have S26, and so I selected S26 but used IMEI from my old S25+.
I plan visit a store soon to trade in old S25 and get S26 as an upgrade to my current line (I qualify for upgrade). Once I have S26, I will test trading vs Ultra.
Btw, has any new Spectrum customer here received the new customer credit of $400 in store, with 2 lines? Was it really spread over 36 months via device payment plan or were you able to get the full $400 instantly when you select "Pay in Full"? I'm asking this as the terms always state promo credits spread over payment plan duration, but stores have been able to provide the credits instantly even when the trade in terms mention otherwise. Also, as new customer, do we need to sign up for internet and the 2 phone lines at the same time, or can we order internet first, and then go to any store to get the 2 phone lines and the $400 credit? New internet customers can often get $40 500mbps plan online or over the phone, while stores charge $50 per month, including one free phone line. That's a saving of $120 a year.
If you put S26 IMEI it wont give that 700 off, which is what the store rep will do.

Yes, people need to understand this. It sounds like everybody is reporting that as the system currently stands trading in a S26 model for another another S26 model is not applying the $700 credit.
So the whole S26 to S26 plus/ultra thing is not currently working like in previous years.

I wonder if you open a new line and trade S26 for S26, will they give you $1130 trade in value?

I cannot say for sure but I doubt it because people have reported seeing the $700 credit when testing other devices and just not S26, so it does not sound like an account limitation but something generic with the S26 line.
That is BS and ridiculous. Did they activate your new phone in store? Easy for me to say, but would have insisted they take the phone back with no restocking fee and went to another store. At the very least, call spectrum and have them extend the return policy. I have called the 800 number when I'm in the store and they spoke to the salesperson and had them do the right thing. Good luck!
I definitely shouldve asked more questions before paying.
Didn't get the phone yet and they just ordered it online telling me to wait for 2 days delivery to my house. She said the credit would be applied 1 week max after mailing the phone in. (1.5 days passed already but still no mail in instructions)
They said I could activate the phone myself or in the store when the device arrives.
If the credit doesn't get sent in a week, I'll try calling spectrum to extend return window.

You should be fine. It is the same with you place an online order at home. You will receive trade in information when your phone is shipped.

If they just placed an order for you online then the trade-in e-mail should come the same day as the order is processed. The trade-in details should have also been on the order confirmation for the order. If you have not received any instructions for the trade-in (and no details about the trade-in on any of the order documents) then you should call Spectrum and ask them about it and see if the person who did the order for you even linked a trade-in on the order. If they did not then you might have to return the device and do a whole new order or go to a different store that will do things for you in-store.

The trade in mailing instruction literally just came bruh. Looks like they literally just placed an online order for me.

Nice, good timing. One time I called in to Spectrum Mobile and they were wanting to help me place the order but asked me for my full SSN. I told them no way I am providing the my full SSN over the phone for this. Ends up they were just going to the Spectrum Mobile website and placing the order for me and the website asks for full SSN to confirm identity. I told them I would just do it myself.

Is it not possible to Trade in 2 phones, get 2 s26, and internet service, receive either $200 or $200x2 (depending on how the promo works) and receive $1400 for the trade-ins ..
Then tell them to apply PARTIAL trade in credit and the rest spread on the account, that way you can STILL Finance like $36/36 months or $72/36 months.
Curious to see if tax after trade in credit is really possible.
(I've seen one comment so far in CA)
I think in most states if you do it in-store you are only paying tax on the total after trade-in, and if you do it online you pay the taxes on everything upfront and then it is refunded on the trade-in amount when trade-in is processed. I think there might be some exceptions to this where a few states might not have the tax exception.
The main benefit to doing it online is for credit card rewards. If you do it instore you are just charged the discounted amount. If you it online you can pay with a rewards card for the full amount (so you earn rewards on the full purchase amount) and then switch your card on the account to a debit/non-reward card and get the refund for the trade-in credit amount without losing the rewards.

Went in store to try and do a trade-in for a S26. Spectrum rep said the $700 was only for NEW customers. I even told them I only had internet and wanted to open a new line.
I left the store immediately afterwards. That store always gave me weird issues when I go in. Seems like their reps aren't fully trained on all the available promotions.

I know people tend to like to go in-store for the tradein just to be done with it but I always find that I have more success online especially with finding promotions. I was not even aware that internet customers get a year of free mobile service until I went to the Spectrum mobile website and was going through the purchase process for the phone when I saw that it said $0/month for the service.
