i remember last year, people who did pre-order and mailed in their trade-in's were having issues with getting trade-in credit to show on their account, even after 2-3 months. Think i'm gonna go with trade-in at store again for this year.
I just received S26 and I activated it with SIM card with IMEI 1. I also tested it to see whether it can be traded in with $700 off. The system took it untill the checkout page, then the $700 disappeared. I used IMEI #1. So I guess the spectrum S26 didn't work for trade-in this year.

thread is too big, can;t find the answer. anyone else waiting for the credit on the same line when doing two phones/offers? I got my first credit, but second got delivered on Monday and not credit yet
When I got my phone in-store, they initially activated esim, which of-course was on IMEI2 but I requested them to switch to Psim. They moved activation to IMEI1 for a physical SIM. I wonder if I had kept esim instead of Physical sim, trading S26 for S26 on the same line would have worked?

I thought about switching to psim but kept esim instead and the $700 credit definitely disappears.
Guess what, S26 to S26 Ultra online trade-in might work with IMEI 2. I received S26 today and activated it with IMEI 1. I then tried to test the trade-in S26 to S26 Ultra with IMEI 1 and the $700 off disappeared at the checkout page. I then moved the SIM card from S26 to my old Motorola Edge Plus 2022 phone so that I can use normally and shelved my S26. About 4 hours later, I tried again to test the trade-in S26 to S26 Ultra with IMEI 2 this time and guess what, I saw $700 appeared on the checkout page. I didn't proceed to complete the check-out. I wait until I receive $705 credit for my S26; then I will probably try to trade-in again. It seemed working with IMEI 2.
PS: I thought about it and I don't think it is worth it to trade-in S26 to S26 Ultra online because it will cost around $605 total overall ($285 S26 + $320 Ultra). I rather trade-in Motorola G 5G 2025 to S26 Ulta in-store and the total is $654 which is $50 more expensive, but less risk.

The credit appears in your account a couple of days after Assurant sends you the e-mail saying your trade-in has been accepted. It is occurs based on when your device is evaluated by Assurant, not when it is delivered.

People have previously identified that you can enter IMEI2 but the issue is not getting the order system to take it but whether the credit will be lost after Assurant receives the device and identifies it based on IMEI1. Assuming they do not reject the device due to entering IMEI2 instead of IMEI1 the question becomes whether the system then reconciles the device based on IMEI1 and you then lose the $700.
Not saying you cannot try but nobody has reported back on taking the gamble yet. In-store they use IMEI1.

Yeah I believe it is not worth it besides I won't take risk to send in S26 to Assurant.
Holy cow this thread is nuts. I'm sure this question has been asked but there's not efficient way to search, too many results.
If I pay in full at the store (i.e. no financing agreement) there's no obligation to stay longer than 61 days for the unlock, right? They can't claw back the $700 promo if I leave earlier than a year? Pretty sure that only applies to financing agreements, but the employee in the store was saying it's a year no matter how it's purchased....
I just did 2 in store trade ins in NYC and received tax on the net amount instead of MSRP of the new S26. Paid $212 with Moto G 5G trade. There's definitely a difference in tax treatment between mail in trade vs in store trades in the same state.

Are the two trade-in on the same line?

Correct, if you pay in full then at the store you just pay the net price (i.e. price of phone minus trade in credit) and you can cancel whenever you want after that without losing the credit. The 60 days is just the requirement to unlock the device. I think the only situations where you would lose the credit is if you return the device linked to the credit or do not payoff the phone when under financing (since with financing the credit is divided over length of length of the financing agreement).
Of note, if you have Spectrum internet service you may qualify for full year of phone service for free. You can test online to see if you qualify (when you are adding phone to cart it will have you select service and if you qualify for free line then it will show you $0/month option for Unlimited).
