Somehow I've used the 20% off "the maximum times" but have never used a discount on this item. I do use whatever I can for discounts on subscribe and save.

The xenophobic part (so what if there's both Spanish and English?) is ... oh, boy.

The Product of China part... yeah, there have been quality control issues with Chinese packed seafood imported to the US. I'm not sure there's anything in the one star review that's got any point beyond "heads up, product of China". The rest is just xenophobic nonsense.

The three star review and one of the four star reviews gave me far more reason for concern. Unpleasant odor not present in other brands is a bad sign.

Also, the sodium content is a bit higher than some other brands, if that's something you care about.

Price is pretty good, but I'm going to give it a pass. You can find frozen chub mackerel (more work, but healthier) for about the same price per pound. Or whole sardines or bonito. Canned is convenient, but never tastes as good.

I've mostly had mackerel fillets in oil, which is very similar to sardines or other tinned fish, a bit firmer in texture but quite good. This is quite different. The mostly whole fish vs fillet is neutral if you're mashing it up for a cracker or sandwich. It's fairly soft, probably from sitting in the water for so long, which is almost half the can. It's bone in and skin on if that matters. It's not a terrible product, but with how many better tinned fish are out there, it's not something I'd purchase again.
