I don't know man, Amazon basics don't have 67-YEAR EXPERTISE TRUSTWORTHY BRAND on the front of their boxes. With only 4.2/5 stars across 45 reviews, I'm assuming quite a few others didn't read the box either.
I've used Nanfu before from an ancient slickdeals post, they work fine and haven't leaked. Even the ones I left in stuff for years. Duracells and Kirklands (rebranded Duracells) have leaked in some of my stuff in much less time.
Amazon basics are fine, but you're paying more for them to slap an Amazon label on what's probably the same battery as in this post.
Adding the promo code didn't change the price. I don't think I've ever had a promo code work from these emails, and I've tried many. I do find deals but if there's a code to get it it's not happening.
Payment instructions work. You may need to try it a couple times (refresh cart). You can also always add any other item you may be eyeing out and get an extra couple dollars in digital reward credits with the "No rush delivery"

Likely (almost certainly) you arent doing it correctly. What always works for me is to copy the promo code from the SD post above, then click the link (which opens the Amazon app on my mobile device, an iPad, for reference). Then, check the box on any coupons on the product page, and then (again, this is what works for me EVERY time) select the "buy now" option. When the checkout screen pulls up, select the payment method, and look for and then select the "change payment method" or "apply promo code, gift card" etc option. In the text box that appears, paste the code from the SD link into the box, and PRECISELY click in the check-box to submit it. ("PRECISELY" as in, dont just press return or enter, and also make sure not to tap sloppily, as doing so will often simply close the box without submitting)When the check box to submit the promo code has been properly tapped/selected, there is typically a 1-3 second processing pause, and then there will be green font that says something to the effect of "The promo code has been applied successfully".Lastly, sometimes after successful application of the promo code, the price (which is shown on the right-hand column with the purchase price breakdown etc) SOMETIMES does not change, and that is NORMAL. Cancel out of the "Buy Now" window, then RESELECT "Buy Now", and the resulting checkout screen that pulls up will have the newly discounted OP price shown.I often do not conclude the purchase via that "Buy Now" window/Portal, but simply use it to confirm the OP price and the promo codes have applied correctly (which they do, easily 95 out of 100 times). I then close out of the "Buy Now" again, and select "Add to Cart". Doing so adds the item to the Amazon Shopping Cart WITH the promo code and any clipped coupons applied, meaning it is in the cart with all applicable coupons and promo codes applied. Often the quantity will be "2" (1 for the cancelled "buy now" and 1 for the "add to cart"), but not always. I always simply double check/adjust it to 1x (if thats the quantity I desire) and whenever i do finalize checkout any of the items that I have used this process as described ALWAYS checkout at the OP/correct price. It is my experience that the promo code application is the step where most people run into issues, but more broadly it is due to not following the instructions in the OP properly. Hope this helps.

Not sure how to add a photo, but I just did the steps outlined above and the total was in fact $10.81 after coupon and promo code (& would surely be lower if using the Subscribe & Save option)

Absolutely the way to do it! Nice of you to type it out so succinctly.. I do this every time to ensure I know all credits posted. Often it even shows the credit amount right above the promo code box.. with a checkbox ✅️ that says something like "use my $5.00 credit voucher".
TIP: S&S from cart instead of Individual items:
Anytime there is a S&S coupon, I clip it (even if I don't want to subscribe), hit then switch to buy now, hit it and go to payment page. Sometimes it shows the checkbox with a credit, then it gives me the discount w/o S&S. Either way, I then back out and add to cart. If I do want to subscribe, the S&S will be in my cart, coupon, #, and delivery period all applied and I just check the "get 5% discount S&S" checkbox.
Note: Make sure to set the # of items & delivery frequency on the item page, if you try to change it in the cart it will make you subscribe individually.
