I got this on the last sale. The quality is actually very nice. The nozzle is a little large in diameter for my liking, but still lights a charcoal grill fine. Be careful with that max power button, lol. There's a knob on top you control the gas flow with, then you click a button to ignite it. Seeing how I had the gas flow controlled with the knob, what could a max temp feature do...? Man, that nozzle turned into an afterburner, shooting out several feet. I don't know where it gets the extra intensity from, since the knob you turn controls the gas. But it goes from torch to afterburner by pulling that trigger. Melted a hole in my screen door because I had it aimed off to my side, never expecting the heat to shoot straight out 4 feet or so. It was just enough to melt a palm side hole before I let go of the button. So yeah, this thing is cool, but be careful with that button.

Oh, the feature where it turns red when hot is misleading I think. I think they just mean the metal tip turns red naturally, not some special feature. It hasn't gotten red while lighting my grill.

Got one from last sale, start on minimum level, it is super strong lol. Haven't used it on anything yet (just tested it out when it was snowing), but it looks solid! I paired mine with the Flame king propane refill kit.

They probably used/purchased a defective one. I got one from a white elephant Christmas party. People were fighting over it. This product is amazing to have around and is a must-have if you barbecue or camp often IMO

No you can't use it for that. The diameter of the flame is too, tooo big. This thing is a flame thrower!

I agree this thing is fun but it's super powerful. Below is what I found with it.

1. Color changing does work but its only small lettering and icon printed on the metal part, the whole thing does not turn red. Just a small printed thing.
2. the diameter of the flame is big as wide as an iphone. So not ideal for really fine pin-point targets.
3. Be very careful to always have the dial low. This thing is powerful so if you accidentally light it with the dial high you get immediate flame blast.
4. Egronomics are not the best. Since it's the shape of a gun a one handed operation means you hold the deice like a gun trigger and your other hand needs to hold the propane tank.
5. Its all plastic except for the barrel, the part that connects to the tank, and some internals. Good to keep everything not burning hot.

Quality is good from my opinion.

One thing to consider is do you really need this?
I think its cool, but since the flame is so wide its limiting in some ways, but great in others. Getting rid of weeds on rock beds good with it being wide, heating up a bolt in a tight place not great.

I got one of these when the deal was first posted, and this thing is awesome! It puts out a LOT of heat and flame. I used it to start a couple fires, and I might almost say the flame is a little too big for a normal size fireplace! If you turn it up high, at least. I couldn't press the trigger with it pointed at the fireplace wood because the flame was a little too intense, but just opening up the valve on top ended up being perfect. I wanted to be able to start fires easier without a fire starter, and this does the trick! Really happy with it.

This is exactly what I bought it for, burning vegatation in rock beds.

These are so darned handy. I light debris piles that I used to use diesel for. I shrink wrapped my 24 ft Jet boat with 1 lb of propane. Light weight, easy to start and if you want it to, this device can really bring the heat. The flame/nozzle is a liitel too big to sear a steak in my opinion. If you want to attemp it, do it inside the firebox of your grill and not inside the house .
