Bought this last year, $9.49, and probably one of the worst portable fans I've ever had. Saw all the glowing reviews and thought it would be a cheap pickup for under $10, but it's incredibly loud and incredibly weak, with a very narrow beam of air.. Even sitting on a desk while you're working, it's both too loud and too easy to move outside of the air-path even just sitting at a computer. The sound is also a very high pitched whirring noise, not a white noise, and would make using it in public seem very awkward.

I see some people saying they bought them for stuff like "cooling their ramen", and thats probably all that I could really recommend it for

I have this fan too, and I'd agree with most of what you said, but I don't think it's quite as bad as you do. Yeah it's louder than other portable fans I own, probably because it's so small, but it's not that bad at lower settings. Outside in public, I doubt anyone would notice. It does put out a "laser beam" of air, which can be good and bad. It puts out a lot of air for it's size. At the highest settings the sound is very annoying, but the airflow is also comically large. The battery life is pretty good. I use it as my airplane travel fan. I still wouldn't recommend buying it unless you can accept the tradeoffs for it's very small size.

it didn't work well enough for me in actual hot weather. you're right about it being loud. the fan didn't feel that effective unless I held it close to my face then it sounds even louder and i'm not trying to go deaf.

All these mini turbo fans are loud at their highest speed due to their high speed fan and restrictive, jet engine-like enclosure. That's why you should never use them at their highest speed in a theatre or other "quiet" environments. For your office, just use a regular low-speed mini fan with a wider cooling profile and longer battery life. These mini turbo fans are designed to be portable, hand-held devices, ideal for outdoor activities -- not for a quiet office environment. I've put aside all my old, first-generation mini fans which didn't have the cooling power of these newer turbo fans.

Yes. I own both Jisulife fan which has the open style and soft blade and this which is the enclosed turbo engine style.

Jisulife is nice to use at home and the noise level is low. But when taking it outside on a hot day, Jisulife could not push the air enough due to wind. However, this turbo fan produces focused air stream to your face resulting better cooling option outdoor. Also, once outdoor, you will not feel the noise too much due to ambient sound is already much higher than indoor ambient sound.

In short, get this for outdoor (eg: theme park, hiking, etc).

By the way, it was very cheap for $5.41 after discount when I purchased this last time (Aug'25) so it was no brainer. I would get another one if it drops to that price again.

I this got last summer too at $10usd and considering inflation and dollar devaluation, i'm surprised it's still selling at this price here. this saved me during many hours on sweltering subway platforms and government office waiting rooms. base on my reading at the time, if this is for personal use (in hand or hanging from your neck) there is no advantage to the newer deeper or wider head models, as this older one moved more than enough air at a quiet medium setting.

When we were in Japan last June, these were very popular. I already owned another brand I had while back in the States, which I brought with me. Everyone had similar ones like this or a neck fan pretty much everywhere you went. When I came back home, you hardly see it. I imagine it's great for standing in line at Disneyland or something.

If it's as loud as some of the reviews here or on Amazon, might be annoying in an office setting. Limited use case. At least it's only $9.

You are better off investing in a portable neck fan from what the problems you are describing. Check out project farms for their recommendation

Bought 4 of these last summer for our trip to Vietnam. Me, my wife, and my two toddler kids loved them. They worked well and helped a lot in the extreme heat in Vietnam. Not sure what the fark the other commenters are talking about. Yea, its a little louder. Well no shit, look how small it is and how fast it's spinning. We loved it for the lanyard and being able to angle the head of the fan.

Bought this one awhile back and out of the different styles of portable fans that I own,this one seems to put out the most air...BUT...IT'S LOUD! So I don't use it in settings where it's noticeable!

Whaa, I didn't think it was THAT bad lol. The high pitch noise is pretty annoying but at the low setting it's not as noticeable.. but still noticeable. Still, I definitely would be scared to bring this to indoor mass/church setting because of how loud it is lol.

Outdoor/indoor on a humid day with NO wind.. These things are a life saver.

I think even if you're in church or something and everyone is sweating their asses off while you have this on the low setting with the high pitch sound... I bet most people there would actually envy you and not get annoyed. Lol ymmv, read the room obviously. Maybe if you do this in such a scenario, point it a little off to the side of you so that the people behind you also get the wind.

But as for the power, it's actually pretty strong I thought. Makes me wonder if you got a dud. Puts out a lot of air since it's a turbine design. But also why it's loud
