I've had this dryer for a while now... works great for me on PLA, PETG, and TPU... but if you want to do ABS or more "exotic" filaments you may want something hotter. SOVOL says it's good for ABS, but be ready to have it sit for 20+ hrs!

The optimal drying temperature for drying PETG is 60-65℃, TPU is 65-75℃.
Can sufficient drying occur by sitting for days in a sealed container with silica gel? Seems like any environment that drops humidity will pull water out.
I've got a convection oven so that'll do.

Silica gel will prevent any moisture from being absorbed by the filament, but it can't remove the moisture like dryers can

Optimal, yes, but 50C will still work for PETG -- it just takes longer. 50C is enough energy to free most of the trapped and adsorbed water on PETG, but less effective for TPU in my experience. I have had good experience with this dryer with my PETG, the new high flow PETG, PETG-GF, and PTEG-CF. I havent noticed a difference over 10+ rolls between this dryer and my food dehydrator at 65C, but the benefit is I can print directly from the dryer while drying.
I traded an unloved PETG spool from a friend and drove off enough moisture to condense on the inside after an hour. It went all the way down to ~10% after drying overnight.

No, you still need energy to break free/release the water that is adsorbed on the surface or trapped in the spaces between the polymer chains. Just 0% humidity is not enough to release enough trapped/bonded water for 3D printing plastics.

I have one of these. I use it to dry PLA filament and silica gel packs. It works for these purposes and it's easy to use but it's not perfect. You need to leave the hood cracked open a little so the moisture can escape when drying. The o-ring seal doesn't seal perfectly tight, so I don't store filament in it. The bottom of mine gets VERY hot when set to the 50C setting; it's hot enough that it's uncomfortable to leave my fingers there for very long. I 3d printed a stand i found somewhere online someone had made for this unit to lift the whole dryer about an inch to allow airflow underneath. I used hot glue to attached the stand to the bottom. That is the biggest issue I have with the dryer. It also doesn't heat the whole chamber that evenly so i typically rotate my rolls of filament during drying. The bottom of the chamber seems to get the hottest, so I'm not sure what the little fan is actually doing. I do like the large chamber for two rolls of filament.

i bought one listed as used last year for 30 bucks and it came in brand new. 50c limit is true but otherwise works pretty well and is a nice size and simple to use
I bought this one, had it for about a year and it died. Three Stars. Bought another filament dryer with only one slot - a lot louder, so I'm back to this one again. Still 3 stars, but being quiet changed my mind.
