Seriously though, I would consider replacing. Is yours plastic?
A lot of research has been done since 2010 about the effects of microplastic consumption, and surely a metal shaker ball scraping against and chipping away at the plastic walls of these things can't be conducive to good health.
For someone like you that takes care of your items and uses them long-term, I would consider getting a stainless steel one. Actually, I'd recommend one of those to everyone. haha
Hopefully these are not a scam... tough criteria for sd in 2026. replace ur old bottles btw gym friends. learned recently they "expire" after a few years
What could/would be a scam here?

the microplastics from a shaker bottle are insignificant compared the air in any major city (unless you're wearing a mask) and certainly no more unhealthy than a typical fast food meal. I get it, better safe than sorry, but if you are concerned about it at that level then you should probably be taking many other precautions as well
Aren't there also articles always there are other chemicals that leech from stainless steel and can be harmful as well?
Stainless steel is a metal. If the surface is clean it won't leech chemicals. It is possible that acids can cause nickel or chromium (elemental) in the metal to migrate, but that reduces rapidly over time.
I switched from one of these to a voltrx that has a blender built in to the bottom. Way better consistency than I ever got from a shaker especially when adding peanut butter.
I have the voltrx. Even running it twice with shaking in between there are still lumps.
