I am on the verge of getting this primarily as a development machine. Is this worth it? They said that AMD feels plasticky vs the Intel counterpart
Yes, it's plasticky and has a peached coating. But that's what makes the AMD version great for ThinkPad diehards. It has a classic ThinkPad design with a CFRP outer shell and a magnesium roll cage inside. Besides, the keyboard can be serviced without opening up the case, removing the motherboard, etc.
The Intel version is built like your typical Ultrabook from other manufacturers and it has that stupid "rolling pin" hinge. I do like its dual fan setup, though.

I bought it and upgraded the ssd. While I have been wanting to get an OLED screen, the RAM alone would help in my developer tasks and since this will be docked, I can still get higher refresh rates for my screen via the dock.

Which SSD did you get in your P14s lottery, and which SSD have you decided to upgrade to?

I meant, I opted for the 2TB option in the website. It says + 159 but what was added only was 87. Amex offer sweetened the deal because $100 off for $1200 purchase from Lenovo so it turns out that my tax is only $45 after Amex credits.
