How does it compare to Ghost of Tsushima?

Check out Like a Dragon Ishin, Way of the Samurai series if you enjoyed this title. Let's not forget the Onimusha series also, all solid Samurai games! It's a shame we didn't get Onimusha 2 remaster on physical format...

Tsushima and Yotei are so similar. Enjoyed them both, not much difference between them with exception of a few minor graphical improvements in Yotei.

Great game. In terms of overall experience it tries to be another Tsushima/Yotei (with villages that need to be cleared of bandits and shrines to pray at, but without the foxes to lead you to them). The combat is more challenging than Tsushima/Yotei but not quite as brutal as Demons Souls. Made by the guys who made Nioh. Like other soulslikes, it's very frustrating at first but once you get the hang of the combat it's really rewarding. Each weapon type has a scissors-paper-stone styled strength/weakness against other weapon types and each weapon type also comes with multiple fighting stances which have strengths and weaknesses against other fighting styles. Outfits also come with stat bonuses with additional perks for wearing a complete set of armour.

Its claims about decisions being able to alter history are partially true, but don't expect anything major like preserving the shogunate or anything... think way more minor like historical figure A didn't survive a major event so historical person B is now the catalyst that that causes the next major incident instead of figure A. You aren't altering historic events so much as you're altering the membership present at those events. I'd be more enthusiastic about the game if the "alter history" angle was more significant.
