The ingredients are more expensive. This is part of their deluxe line, which features real meat. Seafood flavor has pieces of calamari/squid, egg and imitation crab (surimi, made from fish). The deluxe Original flavor has shrimp and the deluxe Curry has sausages.

Nissin's normal line has no meat. Chicken has nothing while Beef has imitation soy-based beef. Shrimp flavor does have a few small shrimps but not as much as the deluxe Original flavor.

These deluxe noodles are also around 0.4oz heavier so you're getting more food. Finally, they're harder to find in America, which inflates the price due to supply and demand. That also explains why my favorite flavor, Lime Shrimp, is usually more expensive.

Japan's Nissin cup noodles are anchored by 3 classic flavors: Seafood, Curry, and Soy Sauce.

These are made in USA which is similar to the classic seafood ones that's been around in Japan for decades. The ingredients are similar and tastes more "authentic" than the other flavors made solely for the American market. There are dehydrated pieces of shrimps and calamari. The seafood flavor is based upon the "champon" ramen which is a local delicacy in Nagasaki. The Korean champon is a variation of it that came after.
In the US version the noodles are a bit softer than the Japanese ones. Other than that the tastes is quite similar.
This is a good price for this particular flavor. A similar one made in Hong Kong costs about $2.75 each. The HK version used dehydrated corn instead of powdered eggs.

Don't they have a ton of sodium?
Not if you pour out the soup.

You make it as instructed then pour out the soup (be careful not to pour out the seafood, eggs or veggies!). The noodles have absorbed a lot of the flavor already but most of the sodium remains in the soup. What you end up with is lo mein, which is basically moist noodles, not noodle soup.

You can buy the cheap 40ยข noodle cups and add your own toppings. Try this delicious instant seafood ramen topping. Expensive but yummy. There are many other brands as well.

Get these at Walmart all the time. They are usually about $2.25 each. About the same price. These are one of my favorite cups.

Yes the noodles are soft, even the super cheap Maruchan cups have better noodles. But the broth and fishy bits are top tier. I haven't had any better cup ramen until you get to the expensive multiple packet brands.
I usually add raw shrimp, salad shrimp, raw squid, or canned squid to make it a real meal. I just ordered another two since local Walmart here doesn't carry it.
