This kind of gardenia smells wonderful. If you clip a couple of these flowers, then place them in your home, your whole house will smell like them for days.

However, a Florida gardenia has larger leaves and white flowers but zero scent.

It's nice to see Southern Living has an honest hardiness map. Gardenias are a primary southern plant, though some companies include zone 6. Dont believe it. One frigid winter and they will die. All 3 of mine died in 2023-2024's winter when KC had a crazy winter and a playoff game in -23 windchill temperatures. They lived a few years, but I wont gamble with them again. Keep them below the dixie line (and west coast areas), or plan on digging them up and replacing them.

Good price. My wife is having out-patient surgery that day so I look forward to a bit of happiness for her.

Yep, even in southern TN/north MS there was that bad freeze (around Christmas?) that took out almost all of my gardenias and camellias. I still love the smell, so I may just get one and put it somewhere I can cover it if I need to lol.
