This stuff smells so good; reminds me of the detergent scents in Europe. I get compliments all the time when I use it.

If you want to sample before buying, doll ar tree sells small bags that last 3-5 loads.

I do... The vast majority of machines sold in the last 15 years are HE so there aren't really any non-he-compatible detergents these days.

there's a few laundry science type influencers that do scientific testing and rank detergents. On the Clean Freakz 2025 ranking for powder detergents Ariel 2x was best, then Tide with bleach, 3rd Tide Oxi, best liquid was Tide odor refresh and best pod was Tide Hygenic Clean.
Powder detergents can have some kind of cleaning ingredients that aren't available in liquid detergents so I use a little of both.

Consumer Reports does a great set of testing. Ariel, and specifically this Downy variety, tests very poorly.
