The specs are pretty good for this TV. Rtings give it a pretty good rating. I've had a Hisense G8 for 5 years as a PC monitor and it's been solid so far. I would but another 8 series again.
my neighbor got this model last year, as a replacement for a 7yo Hisense
where the backlit panel up and died, and she wanted the same I/O ports.
it has an odd flaw if you are using any streaming hdmi device (IN) and
toslink fiber speakers (OUT) you will hear an unbearable feedback tone.
she didn't want to be bothered returning it, fw updates since did not fix it,
and no, other devices, cables or nearby signal sources are not at fault here.
it's a manufacturers defect, pure and simple.
AVOID. Hisense burned their reputation with their shitty ass OS. Their TV's constantly crash and they would not hire devs to fix their issues. I had the U7G and if it didn't have the crashing issue it would be an instant rec but bc of their issues its a hard pass for me.
I bought two TVs from this brand and both stop working within 2/3 years.
Interesting, I've had a hisense mounted in my unattached non-insulated garage in iowa for about 6 years and it still works fine. Its seen everything between -20 degrees and probably 120 degrees and humidity etc.
