I'm going to caution some people buying this that the screen is dim, resolution low for 16 inch and GPU is slow. I wouldn't go for this. I think a bit overpriced for the 32gb ram which is the main draw

Which laptop with a brighter, and higher resolution screen with a faster GPU and 32GB RAM around $800 are you suggesting to make this overpriced?

With the price of RAM what it is currently, this seems decent for a 32GB DDR5 and a 1TB HD. I'd be using just for work/productivity. Seems decent specs from a non gaming perspective.

Am I missing something?

I'm answering my own question, as in looking around SD's, I found this current deal for a 14", same resolution, but higher PPI, and it is brighter, with 32GB RAM. Not sure if an Intel Arc 140V is better or worse than the 860M in this Dell laptop.

And being from Costco, it includes 2 YR warranty as a little bonus.

I was thinking of something like this Lenovo with an oled.

But you're right that there's not much 32gb laptops cheaper than this.

I have that exact Lenovo and it's a magnificent laptop, with an OLED-like screen, but it's not OLED. It's also open box which can be a crap-shoot, but it's a great laptop. I would take the Lenovo all day long over this Dell (which I have also had received for a client and I didn't find the screen that bad, but it's a still a Dell...)

Eh, it's not a great deal, but it's not bad either for a laptop with 32GB DDR5 RAM. The RAM is what is pushing the price up with the current AI driven inflation. The brightness could be better, but 1920 by 1200 is fine for a 16 inch IMO. I had a 14 inch with FHD and had to scale the text up to make it readable. It's also in the Dell Plus line which tend to have a better build quality that Dell's regular laptops.

I'm not sure you'd be able to find a new (not refurb, open box, Microcenter) laptop near this price with both a better GPU and brighter display without dropping down to 16GB of RAM (or dropping other features like the touchscreen or backlit keyboard).

Yeah I think if you don't need a touchscreen you can do a lot better than this at this price point. But if you really want a touchscreen you won't. I also imagine that is part of why the screen is dim, I rarely see bright touchscreens it seems.
