prices of desktops really have went up a lot recently i guess theres -50% productivity gains for chips the past 5 years. humanity is going backwards not forward using ai woops.
idiots that spam thumbs up on over priced ai chips excuses etc really are brain dead.

let them buy these as they produce nothing of value. actually ai currently produces NEGATIVE value.

Just because you think its a good price doesn't make it a good price. Is it any wonder why inflation keeps going up because of people like you.
basically. lmao idiots keep thinking over priced per performance compared to a few years ago bang per buck improvements actually went down by 50% not up meaning there was no progress at all with chips and processing power/efficiency. its no wonder ai bubble is so bad with sky high pe and accounting fraud to keep bubble propped up.

My local costco display only has 2 memory slots and the guy on the floor said they got all of them at the same time so all of them most likely have 2 memory slots which mean all B650? maybe i should order online and see if I get 840?
anyone know any Costco in Northeast PA that has 840 models in store?

I originally purchased in store(B650) DFW area. When i learned of the refresh to the model, I ordered on 3/11 and received upgraded model B840 on (3/14). I figured the $15 shipping was worth it. According to Gemini, the max ram on the new board is 256 gigs. It also has, as mentioned on the earlier comment, 4 ram slots and 2.5 LAN, but slightly downgraded lights on the AIO radiator. I think the online order (B840) had a date around Feb 2026. Updated ram speed, flashed bios to newest version and did the CLI bypass when installing windows (Shift +F10) and enter oobe\bypassnro then choose that you don't have internet. So far so good. Hope this helps.

I got them to open one up for me just to be sure and it was the newest model. I talked them into selling me the outdated display to me cheaper though. May give it a try!

Anyone knows how the Ryen 9 9900X compares to the Ultra 9 285k with the dell & micro center deal for the alienware model?

i just picked up one - it was the 650 board, this is more of a side grade than an upgrade to get the 840. the 650 allows you to oc the chip and the ram, the 840, ram only, i think this is why they changed the aio.
Ram is expensive right now, so the best thing is to ebay the current, then grab 64gb and be happy with the 650, sell the ram. if you are set on the 840 and want to prioritize ram, then grab 32gb (16x2 @1.25v cl38).
The way to actually get the 840 board, the boxes are identical, there is no tell outside of the box besides if it looks "new". old dinged up boxes are a sure way to see if it's a 2025 650 box. i went to 3 costcos because I had 4x32gb sticks to grab the 840, there was a guy there in the computer section that saved me a bunch of time, he found all stores that had recent shipments in and sent me to that store, i had no issues swapping it for the 840 - i just had to pay the extra tax.
tldr - to get the 840, ask a rep to look at who has the latest shipments, it took minutes vs driving around town.

Just got mine today, upgraded MOBO but the AIO is missing the led strip across the top fan rims, any luck getting the new MOBO with 4 ram slots and the LED strip AIO? I think the AIO on the box just looks cleaner overall. It came with the mag coreliquid a12 360 instead of the 360 V2.
Think the AIO swap was deliberate. New one without the LED is 20 bucks cheaper compared to the old one. I ended up taking mine back cause the AIO fans as a whole were too noisy compared to the ROG G700 prebuit I got at Costco a few months prior. Wanted to see if the extra $300 was worth it for a 5080, but the PC overall seemed cheaper by comparison

Just stopped by my local Costco. I had them open one up for me to verify it was the newest revision. After they realized it was different than the display they sold me the display model for 1499. I'll take it!
Now that's a slick deal

Impossible to tell from the box. You can tell visually once you get it out. Mobo has a sticker on it that labels it as PRO B840-VC WIFI, there's 4 slots for ram instead of 2 (as cheap board), and B840 board has a USB-C port on the back

I think to make up for the better Mobo they swapped the AIO for a slightly cheaper one
You do realize it's a worse motherboard.You can't even overclock the c p u.

depends on if you want to spend 400 on ram and expand the existing or $630 on 64gb and sell the old ram. i did the later - ended up being $270 with tax to buy the new 64gb module. the 650 board is superior - OC on both the ram and cpu but keep in mind the existing ram is 1.25v, most ram available in big box is 1.35v. can't believe i sold my 32gb for 400 - ... probably to another SDer wanting 64gb in his 840 board with an exact matching pair.
