You are very right. I checked, even if you bought at MicroCenter. Just the NVIDIA 5080 GPU and CPU/MB/RAM bundle are $2300.
That leaves out the NVME, PSU, Case, cooling system, and Windows license.
What an awful time to be in the market.

That misfit of parts can do things that are not even remotely possible on any console.

They might have different batches at Costco, the PC on display had an MSI SSD drive but that's not what I got, here's the specs I got in Los Angeles area. Picked it up today:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9900X (12-core, 5.6GHz boost)
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G SHADOW 3X OC (16GB GDDR7)
Motherboard: MSI PRO B840-VC WIFI (AMD B840, AM5)
RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) TeamGroup T-Force DDR5 6000MHz
Storage: 2TB TeamGroup T-Force G50 Graphene NVMe Gen4
CPU Cooler: MSI 360mm AIO Liquid Cooler
PSU: 850W 80+ Gold
WiFi: Wi-Fi 7 + Bluetooth 5.4 (shark fin antenna)
OS: Windows 11 Home
Case: MSI Aegis ZS2 (3x 120mm RGB front fans)
Includes: MSI mechanical keyboard and mouse, SATA cables, EZ M.2 clip tool
Assembled in USA, MFG January 2026
Costco 2-year warranty + 90-day return

Heads up for anyone getting this — the RAM ships running at JEDEC default 4800 MT/s, NOT the advertised DDR5 6000. You need to go into BIOS and enable EXPO to get your full memory speed.
How to fix it:
Restart and mash Delete to enter BIOS
In EZ Mode, find the Memory section and switch from "Standard" to "EXPO1"
While you're in there, verify Re-Size BAR is enabled (mine was already on — Advanced F7 → PCIe Subsystem Settings)
F10 to save and exit
Confirm in Task Manager → Performance → Memory that it now shows 6000 MT/s
This is standard for all motherboards (they ship at safe defaults), but figured some people might not know they're leaving free performance on the table. Takes 30 seconds in BIOS.

Hope you get the 650 next. Also, Cherry Hill, NJ recently went back in stock. You can try your luck there.

Just started running this today. Top radiator fans are quite loud and throttle speed constantly not even running any apps or games. I would advise headphones for this setup.

Bought the desktop but I will be returning it. It seems to have locked power on the cpu because running timespy xtreme 4k bench mark cant get higher than 8100 for the 9900x. The score should be a lot higher , fans are pretty nosiy as well when I compared it to my lenovo 5080 legion 7 tower with the 265k Intel.

Google says the 650 is more geared towards gaming. So maybe 650 is the better option for this build

I think the B650 version came with a WD green and the B840 came with a T Force G50.

Reviewed. Spoiler alert, he did not like the MB. But to be fair they mostly suck in most prebuilts.
