Lidocaine is a topical numbing agent, so, in theory, it shouldn't. Bactine spray has a different numbing agent, but I find it takes away the pain almost instantly for small cuts, ingrown nails, etc.

Everyone reacts differently to lidocaine...for some people it stings at application, for others it doesn't.
