These have nearly the same dimensions as airtags so you should be able to use them with most of the airtag accessories.
I put one in this case that extends it to 10 years and tossed it in the trunk of my car just in case.

This used to be true. Some time in the last year Google enabled tracking by default. They also let you know if a tracker that isn't yours is following you. I gave my wife a Chipolo to test without touching her phone and she got a notification in like 10 minutes. Of course a thief traveling with your bag would get the same notification :p

They would do a decent job. The Samsung SmartTags even prompt you in the app to fill in pet details if you intend on using the tag to track your dog/cat.

I'm an android user but always wondered about the airtag thing. I am gonna buy some of these. I plan to put one in my daughter's backpack, put one in my RV trailer, one in my luggage. I think there's a lot of potential uses for them.

To add, for tracking, if i recall correctly, Samsung ones only ping from another Samsung phone. Motto ones ping from any android phone, so in you should be getting more pings from people.

I have the Samsung ones since i have Samsung phone and waiting for the Motto v2 to come out

Keys! At very least you want them on your keys. Just stuff you loose track of from time to time. I have them on our keys. I have one hidden on my ebike (incase it's jacked). I have one in my suitcase so it's easy to see if it made my tight connection of I can tell the airline where it is if it gets lost. One in the back of my car to help me find it in a parking lot. One on my TV remote.

Just stuff you have to look for or stuff you want to find if it's stolen.

Yes by far. These are the airtag equivalent for pixel.
Chipoli, tile, etc are junk in comparison
