Bizarre. Wanted to change my S&S date. And what's with only 5% off with max S&S items.? After the soup debacle,(sent me a case of gravy instead of soup) maybe they'll send me a case of olives instead.

Yep. That's how they avoid supplying top grade sourcing, and profit more. Harder to track multiple sources - especially when most of them offer varying grades.

Brave AI is telling me this & I was able to corroborate the first part on Duck AI (not the part about Polyphenol Count):
I
"Pompeian's extra virgin olive oils, including the Smooth variety, are certified for authenticity by the North American Olive Oil Association (NAOOA), which conducts regular third-party testing of olive oils from supermarkets to ensure they meet International Olive Council (IOC) standards"
I
"Regarding polyphenol count, Pompeian does not publicly disclose exact polyphenol levels for its Smooth EVOO in the provided information. However, based on general industry data and Pompeian's product descriptions, the polyphenol content in Pompeian Smooth EVOO is typically lower, estimated at 100–200 mg/kg, compared to the higher levels (200–300+ mg/kg) found in Pompeian's Robust line. This is consistent with its mild, delicate flavor profile and use in cooking methods like sautéing and stir-frying."
I
Been studying EVOO for awhile. Regarding the risk associated with EVOO from multiple sources. From Brave:
"There is no conclusive evidence that extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) sourced from multiple countries is inherently more likely to contain harmful contaminants than single-source EVOO. However, blended or multi-source oils carry a higher risk of fraud, mislabeling, and quality inconsistency, which can indirectly increase the chance of contamination or adulteration."
I
My conclusion: If the EVOO seller gets routine independent, third party testing on EVOO this risk is mitigated.
I
I've been a Kirkland Organic EVOO user for years. I go to stores and take pics of EVOO then use AI to look up 3rd Party Testing & Polyphenol count because I am interested in health benefits. Been disappointed that most of the California & Texas Ranch EVOO don't test and list polyphenol counts. However, recently found an inexpensive EVOO with Medium polyphenol count comparable to Kirkland. ALDI (German store) sells a high quality, inexpensive Sicilian EVOO Smooth & Medium Flavor Val Di Mazara P.D.O. 16.9 FL OZ for $11.00.

Here is what AI says about this inexpensive EVOO:

Sicilian EVOO Smooth Medium Flavor Val Di Mazara P.D.O. third party testing certification polyphenol count Aldi Certification and Testing of Sicilian EVOO at Aldi

Aldi's Premium Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO), specifically the Smooth & Medium Flavor Val Di Mazara P.D.O. variety, is subject to strict quality controls and testing. This oil is recognized for its Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status, ensuring that the olives come from a specific region and meet high-quality standards.
I
Third-Party Testing for Contaminants

I
  • PDO Certification: The Val Di Mazara PDO classification implies that the oil adheres to stringent quality measures monitored by Italian authorities.
  • Independent Lab Testing: Independent testing, including that commissioned by organizations like the Olive Japan Association, has shown that Aldi's Sicilian EVOO meets extra virgin standards. For instance, recent batches were reported to have a free acidity of 0.27%, which is below the IOC limit of 0.8%.
  • I
Polyphenol Count

While specific polyphenol counts are often not published on the label, high-quality Sicilian EVOOs typically contain higher levels due to their processing methods and olive varietals. Oils sourced from the Val Di Mazara area can provide polyphenol levels ranging from 250 to 800 mg/kg, depending on factors like harvest timing and extraction processes.

Interesting, Amazon has messed up multiple orders of mine recently too. One time I got 1/8 of what was listed. One time I ordered mac&cheese and got a tube-cutter instead. And I have 2 orders that have been "Order Received" for a month now because their Amazon Grocery items have been out-of-stock (literally got an email citing a "supply chain issue"). After using Amazon for 20+ years it feels weird to say this, but I've started looking elsewhere...

Could be any type of oil with multiple countries listed and no single country seal. Cheaper just to buy vegetable oil because that is probably what you are getting anyway.
