Depends on how dense the clay soil is but I would imagine it could be massive overkill. But what guy wouldn't want to own a jack hammer just for the hell of it, especially at under $40. I have no use for it and am still tempted to buy just to test out on different materials

Yes. I own this and have used it to dig into soil fhat was too hard for a shovel. It's also good for breaking up bricks and softer masonry items. I found that it struggled with hardened concrete. Also, i paid $70 from Amazon about 18 months ago.
