Had the Flip, it was fine. Didn't find myself using it much. I thought I'd carry it with me and use it instead of scrolling on my phone while out and about, but was too self conscious as a 40 year old man to be seen with a Gameboy. Vanity I guess.
Haven't tried the RG35XX
Community Reviews
The Miyoo Flip V2 is a compact clamshell handheld that stands out for portability and enough power for retro favorites, with some hope for Dreamcast and stronger performance than the R36S class. The updated hinge is the main draw, but hinge reliability still comes up as the biggest concern, especially on older units and some grey models. The included microSD cards are widely treated as junk and often replaced, and ROMs may not be included. Free 90 day returns soften the risk, making it a tempting small handheld if you can live with the hinge uncertainty.
RG35XXH owners who are willing to swap the included storage and firmware, because multiple commenters said the included microSD cards are junk and that replacing the card and flashing firmware (then loading ROM sets like Tiny Best Set) is what makes the device work well.
people who want a cheap handheld specifically to test whether the Miyoo Flip V2 they receive has the updated hinge, because commenters said older Flip V2 hinges have lots of reports of breaking and free returns within 90 days makes it a lower-risk gamble.
buyers who are okay with a "starter" handheld and want to play a wider range than PS1 by choosing a stronger chipset, because commenters said the RG40XX H/V adds Bluetooth/video-out and has a beefier chipset that can open up some PSP and Dreamcast (and better PS1/DS performance in their experience).
retro gamers who mainly want to catch up on SNES and PS1 on a device with good ergonomics and a big screen, because one commenter said the RG40XXH has great ergonomics, a big screen, and lots of custom firmware options and is "perfect" for SNES/PS1.
people who are planning to use a handheld for pocketability first and don't mind smaller screens, because one commenter said the 35XX H is their favorite mainly for pocketability while the 40XX H/V are better if you want larger screens.
buyers who want the Miyoo Flip for hinge reliability without any risk of failure, because commenters warned the Flip's hinge is very unreliable even on the improved version and advised being wary of the hinge.
people considering the RG35XXH if they expect plug-and-play reliability out of the box, because one commenter reported two RG35XXH units with identical severe issues (junk cards failing immediately and needing to remove/reinsert the battery to play) and said Anbernic provided zero help.
people who want to avoid ROM hunting and want the device to come with everything ready to play, because commenters said after flashing firmware the device didn't include ROMs and they had to find replacement ROMs elsewhere.
buyers who want a handheld that charges with any common cable, because one commenter said their Flip V2 only charges with a USB-A to USB-C cable.
people who specifically want a 5-inch+ screen experience from these cheaper Anbernic options, because one commenter suggested waiting for a 5" screen and said the listed Anbernics are too small.

But most phones are going to be more powerful than these listed devices. You may be able to get ps2 and some pc games out of a phone.
Retro Catalog has a great comparison tool:

Performance-wise, you'd also get 1GB of RAM over the 128MB in the MM+ and a slightly beefier chipset that would open up some (strong emphasis on some) of the Dreamcast, N64, and PSP libraries to you. PortMaster (play mostly older and/or lightweight PC games, such as Stardew Valley, Half-Life 1, Wolfenstein, and more) is also an option on some RG40XX custom firmwares. Plus, better PS1 emulation, that will allow you to add a few graphical enhancements on many games in RetroArch that would otherwise struggle if enabled on the Miyoo.
Nintendo DS in my personal experience runs smoother on the H700 chipset in those particular Anbernic devices vs. the MM+ and you can even get away with enabling the High-Res 3D setting in Drastic (the NDS emulator) on the RG40XX's for many DS titles; which isn't typically possible on the MM+ for most games.
On the Retro Catalog page above, under the 'Emulation Performance' section, those numbers are percentages (i.e. Nintendo 64 on the Miyoo side says "0" = 0%, but says 80 for N64 on the RG40XX H side = roughly 80% of the catalog is playable).
But this price isn't that slick. Msrp is always inflated.

The 35XX H is my favorite of the bunch, mainly for its pocketability. Of course the 40XXH or the 40XXV have the larger screen and while I favor the horizontal layout, the 40XX V was pretty comfortable.
As for the Miyoo Flip, I took a pass on that one. They had a hell of a hit with the Miyoo Mini Plus, but they missed on the Flip.
Better strategy would be try to pickup one used, at least then you don't have to wait for the next recession to see $25-ish again....which might be sooner rather than later.
FWIW, ordered the Miyoo Flip V2. I've wanted to try that for a while even if I dislike most Linux based retro handhelds (no problem with Linux in general). Had a RG34XXSP, it was pretty sweet but larger than it should have been for the screen size and the 3:2 screen wasn't ideal since GBA wasn't my main system.
