The $1809 model looks to be a good deal. I don't need a super high-end processor for my usage and a 5070 is good enough (though I'd like the TI). Is this a good price?

Never again intel processors.
Intel is really good this round for mobiles. They beat AMD substantially in efficiency. For Desktop I'll never go Intel, but laptop I'm more concerned about battery life.

There's always something off with Lenovos nowadays. Either no ethernet, little VRAM, small SSD, etc. For $2K I expect a top of the line machine with no compromises even in this "AI" adjustment period. Now, I don't expect a 5090 or 128GB RAM or even an OLED, but this ain't it.

Because it's a ThinkPad, not Legion or LOQ. Who needs high refresh OLED touch screens in business workstations? This is a 4k+ color accurate panel. Perfect for business use.

5070 laptops use to be around $900-$1200 on average and at $2k you could get 5080s or used 5090s. Guess there really are suckers born every minute.

Interesting that they make the thunderbolt ports user replaceable, but keep the wireless nic soldered to the mobo.

agreed.. I got a lenovo legion pro 5 w/ a 5060 for 1200 that I promptly returned for the cooler running and more than capable arc b390 iGPU in a new 1450$ hp omnibook x 16" with the series 3 panther lake core ultra x7 358h. if you can find panther lake "X" series chips for 1500$ ~ you get the equivalent of rtx 5050 / 4050 level graphics with a package that will literally give you 20 hours on the battery non gaming (especially with a nice 1200p or 2k oled). why people still spend 1000$+ on laptops with shitty dGPU's that suck battery life even while not gaming I will never understand.

Pretty certain there has never been a ThinkPad with a 5070 in that price range. These aren't your standard gaming laptops - no one thinks of a ThinkPad as a gaming laptop.
