I stick with HART tape measures from Walmart now, the quality is outstanding and easily surpasses the pricey red brands, and I'm not worried about where they're made.

Most likely made by workers who struggle to earn one meal a day. There is always a price for everything. I would not pay anything more than 12-15 for up to 30' good tape measure. Those $30-80$ priced are ridiculous and make you feel the quality is good. Open them up and you will see the quality of the guts.
