ThermoMaven X2 is a dual probe wireless meat thermometer that stands out for smoking and other long cooks, with a large screen and labeled probes that make it easy to track two meats at once. The probes are described as accurate enough for steaks, chicken, salmon, and brisket, and the price around $40 is repeatedly framed as strong value. The main catch is that this X2 model does not connect to a phone or app, unlike some ThermoMaven and Typhur models. It also has a few practical limits, including finicky charging and a probe that must be fully inserted to avoid heat damage.

Looks pretty solid - thanks for posting!

Despite the initial eye-roll, I can't help but appreciate the creative marketing: I've never seen (what I presume is) old-school 900MHz dressed up so sexily..."Sub-1G wireless technology". 😆

THIS...right here. Thermoworks is the gold standard and it just performs flawlessly. All of the knockoffs that are made to sound like Thermoworks are just Chinese landfill garbage. They may work for a few months to a year and then just start fritzing out.
I have a thermo-knock off handheld thermometer and not only is it dead on accurate but it's been going strong for 5 years now and counting. What annoys me about the 'gold standard' products is the 'gold standard' markup on them. I could buy their handheld thermometer being $40 better than the one I bought for $10 but it's not priced at $50, it's priced at anywhere from $70-125 and they charge $190 for one wireless probe with a base unit that doesn't even display the temperature. They're milking their brand name.

Not dead, but I reported it as dead last night because I kept getting the promo code cannot be applied. I just tried again and it worked as of 4:45 EDT Wednesday.

We'll see about the long term durability, but so far I have used it two nights in a row cooking chicken and it has done well, at least assuming it is accurate. I have always heard that meat continues to cook after taking it off the heat and at least in the case of my chicken breasts, they have gone up by another 10F after taking them out of the pan.
Might try them on a steak this weekend. I like filets but the thickness has always made cooking a challenge.

I was like damn I just paid $60 for this... then I realized this model is different and does not tie to the app and wifi....I like the app, setting alerts for when temps hit is pretty I think this company is ready to IPO, they make decent products
.... and that will be the end of the decent products ....

Bought the Wireless Meat Thermometer P2 on a [previous deal that is available again](https://slickdeals.net/f/19267246-thermomaven-smart-bluetooth-wireless-meat-thermometer-w-2-probes-60-free-shipping). It's been amazing - even the WiFi/app has worked flawlessly (and now I more regularly use my probes versus the other brands I've bought in the past).I've tried a lot of amazon-brand items exactly like this (a lot. I am Vine and got at least 3 or 4 different ones free, plus I've purchased a couple different models like this in the past). They were all absolute garbage. They didn't work well, and the app connection started out poor and eventually just straight up stopped working entirely. Not worth the frustration.I've only used this 4 times so far but connection has been instant, rock solid, and flawless. The probes lasted my longest cook - 4 hours - without problem and used ~30% of their battery (if the battery level is accurate which I will give the benefit of the doubt for now).If you're turned off app controls because they generally suck... I'd actually recommend trying again with a (slightly) more expensive ThermoMaven model that connects to the app.The app does a great job with temperature estimation, charting, letting you see the various temperatures across the probe and ambient temperatures (5 temperature readings along the probe + 1 ambient sensor up top). Alerting has worked flawlessly. The app itself on app stores has amazing reviews (iOS: 4.7 stars on over 4000 reviews; my previous one was 2.7 stars on a few hundred).BTW to the snark about range: remember these things are often placed into something resembling a Faraday cage which blocks a significant amount of signal. 3000 ft away sounds silly but when the effective range is substantially reduced due to interference... it makes sense.(Also since this doesn't connect to wifi that added range makes a lot of sense, given both the drop in signal from eg your grill plus your, like, house.)IMO: spend the extra $20.
Thanks for the detailed feedback. Do you know if I can buy extra probes for this or the model you have and if so, what the max amount of supported probes is? Thanks!
