Compatible with Nikon D850 and D780 only AFAIK.

True as per Nikon. Only those cameras have the negative digitizing capability.

I have only done one negative so far (of a negative my father-in-law had been carrying in is wallet for the last 30+ years). It turned out really good. once I got the focus resolved, you could see film grain. I made a slight change to contrast and brightness and pulled out some green and was happy with result. I will find a good neutral content negative to scan and post.

What does that even mean? As long as you can take the image, you can always process the image in any software that does something similar.

I guess it means they are the only ones that have it built in.

I'd be pretty shocked if Lightroom or some other software couldn't process it though.
