Interesting last year at this time the kit included an additional 2 ah battery w/the 2x4r ah and a charger all HP and it was $89, a bit higher than the published inflation rate.

Good deal these days. They must have made too many. Anybody getting 10% coupons from HD lately? Mine have dried up.

Are you sure about that, I think you are incorrect. I searched extensively and can't find a record of that deal on SD. Please post a link if I missed it in my search.

In Jan 2025 the price for the deal you describe was $129, so negative inflation.

Only coupon I've gotten lately was $30 off $300 so I bought lumber to build a small 6'x8' firewood shed.

I'll never understand HD's pricing. Same two batteries and no charger on special buy for $169.

Then there's this, two 6.0Ah high performance batteries no charger for $121. To me this is a better deal than the OP's. I got chargers running out the wazoo.

Outside of tools, anyone know if I can DIY hook these up to other things?

yes you can use them to power pretty much anything. Buy an adapter for $10-20 that includes a buck converter and now you have 12v power for whatever you want

Everything that takes 18v. Ryobi batteries are well suited to other applications because the battery protection is in the battery and not the tool (like other brands). That means you get over current, over temp, short circuit protection built in. I've got them in my kids PowerWheels.
That said, there's no point in getting 4Ah batteries when the 6Ah are just a few bucks more, and the only reason Ryobi makes them is to get people to buy even more batteries. The 4 and 6 Ah batteries are the exact same size, and fairly close in weight.

Here's an example. No idea if it's the best price, just so you can search for similar (i had it saved in my amazon list from a while back)
