Are extended warranties helpful anyone has experience using extended warranty on ThinkPad?
- While Yoga Pro 9i has very good keyboard, T1g should have even better keyboard.
- Screen-wise, Yoga Pro 9i has advantage, as T1g has matte coating which seems to add some graininess (per notebookcheck.com)
- Yoga Pro 9i uses the slim-tip charger (comes with 170w). T1g comes with 140W usb-c charger, so it is more convenient (but max GPU performance may suffer due to the reduced power). Another advantage of T1g is it has a USB-c port on the right hand side, which is convenient for charging.
- Camera seems to be the same
- T1g comes with the fingerprint reader, which is a plus.
- Speakers seem to be on par.
Overall, I think T1g is better than Yoga Pro 9i, except the matte screen and maybe maximum performance due to the power charger difference (this is my guess). For me, content consumption is very important so I will still go with Yoga Pro 9i, I wish they come out with glossy screen version of T1g.I always buy their extended accidental warrant on laptops. I have dogs, and i travel alot. So they see alot of abuse. Its definitely nice to have for a laptop.
If you cannot really afford to replace the laptop. I would recommend the warranty. I replace mine every 3 or so years. So i get their maximum for 3 years. I cannot afford to spend $3k+ to replace what i have.

battery likely suck if you run 5070 on full power. Mine 5090 mobile only lasts an hour if I run it full blast. idle it will run hours but that's a useless stat.

Do new laptops with a Nvidia GPU work the same way? I'd rather use the regular onboard processor most of the time, and pretend have the Nvidia kick in automatically when doing local AI playground tasks (note: i don't do gaming, but id be interested in a laptop that is strong for AI development).
