I'm wondering the same—does it make sense to replace two 24" monitors (1920×1200) with this 49" display?

I recently replaced two 28 inch Samsung qhd monitors with a single ultra wide. For work. I love it how I get basically the same pixel space but it's all on one giant screen. Won't go back.

Very true. Also anything over 32 should have a curve.

I posted on another thread regarding this very thing. I bought the MSI 49" ultrawide monitor. Just some thoughts. It is awesome for gaming. It is kind of great for video editing. For general purpose desktop use it is inconvenient. Yes you can have ONE monitor and can fit many windows side by side. BUT... It is difficult to turn your head to look at something at EITHER END end of the monitor if it isnt in the "sweet spot". I have to move my chair and slide down there to see the text OR move the window into my field of view. I guess you could set up different workspaces using the window manager fo4 different tasks but I never liked doing that. I bought it to replace 2x24" monitors (48" in total). I had them on arms and could reposition them at will if I needed to. It was just more convenient. This thing is HUGE. It spans my entire desk. It isnt easy to reposition like the 2 monitor on arms was. So if you want it primarily for gaming then it incredible. If you want it for general purpose + some gaming, you may want to rethink. I wish I just bought a 34" 4k monitor instead TBH but what is done is done.

Interesting I feel the exact opposite. This is so much better than dual monitors for productivity. No more messing with moving monitors around, or trying to angle them exactly right, or always turning your head because you can't center things in front of you. I do a triple split of windows in front of me on 49" and it's perfect

No, it makes more sense to go with 2x 34in ultrawides. You get a little more screen real estate going with 2x 34in (2x 3440x1440 = 6880x1440 total pixel resolution).
