This would be my choice for spending $30 because of the better build, better quality and better materials. I have the full size one of these and I love it. This knife blade is about a half inch shorter than the Kershaw in this thread, and D2 tool steel is not fully stainless, so it's not my first choice for cutting foods unless you make sure to clean, dry and oil it afterwards. All around this is a very nice knife for $30 and the D2 tool steel will hold an edge longer.
All blade steels are a compromise between value, hardness/edge retention, corrosion resistance and toughness. Here are a few articles comparing them.
