Albacore has 3x as much mercury as other canned tuna. No more than 2 cans a week of Bumble Bee, and some say that's too much.
Very helpful article from Consumer Reports from 2023. Also kinda surprising that their survey showed half of Americans didn't know that mercury levels varied between types of tuna, and 18% didn't know it had any at all!

All albacore tuna - except for "Wild Planet Albacore Wild Tuna" are tainted with either having too much mercury or being high in arsenic. This deal on tuna can be eaten in moderation (not daily but no need to limit to 2x a week) when it comes to mercury BUT it does have 1.5mcg/g of arsenic which is not good.

What are you talking about? You obviously didn't read the article as Wild Planet was found to have the HIGHEST amount of mercury both for Light and Albacore! You didn't refer to any studies at all, especially your opinion that there is "no need to limit to 2x a week," which the article I linked to specifically states is the MAX amount of this particular brand of albacore, and less with all other brands. You mention "moderation" but then cavalierly claim that more than 2 times a week is fine. That's not what the FDA says:
https://www.fda.gov/food/consumer...nant-or#VI
It actually says to only have ONE 4oz serving of Albacore and NO OTHER FISH that week, given that albacore has 3x the mercury of light tuna. And this is for healthy adults…if you're in a susceptible class like pregnant, it's even less.
Of course arsenic isn't good either.

Consumer Reports is for amateurs, brother. Your data is not good. It's from 3 years ago. I use Consumer Lab as my primary source, which is way ahead of Consumer Reports in this area and tests regularly (last test was January 2026). Wild Planet Albacore is fine. Most albacore exceeded 0.3 ppm (0.3 mcg/g) of mercury; Wild Planet was below 0.1 ppm - which ideally you want 0 but unless you have a time machine and can remove human and corporate greed, it is what it is. Best option is typically yellowfin or skipjack.
