Anyone wants to use this as work monitor, I must warn you that it has built-in Panel protection mode where you can't disable it... it kicks in after 24hour of use and it will be unusable for 10min. Middle of virtual meeting it will power down on you. Stupid flaw to prevent burn in. Avoid

But if I just turn off the monitor at the end of the day, I won't run into that problem... Seems like a fairly simple fix?

You can cancel it before it begins and do it on-demand later.
That being said, once it starts, you're on your own.

How's it do with small text like in excel? I have 2 old 27" monitors side by side and was thinking of getting one ultra wide.

I bought this monitor. Just some thoughts. It is awesome for gaming. It is kind of great for video editing. For general purpose desktop use it is inconvenient. Yes you can have ONE monitor and can fit many windows side by side. BUT... It is difficult to turn your head to look at something at EITHER END end of the monitor if it isnt in the "sweet spot". I have to move my chair and slide down there to see the text OR move the window into my field of view. I guess you could set up different workspaces using the window manager fo4 different tasks but I never liked doing that. I bought it to replace 2x24" monitors (48" in total). I had them on arms and could reposition them at will if I needed to. It was just more convenient. This thing is HUGE. It spans my entire desk. It isnt easy to reposition like the 2 monitor on arms was. So if you want it primarily for gaming then it incredible. If you want it for general purpose + some gaming, you may want to rethink. I wish I just bought a 34" 4k monitor instead TBH but what is done is done. Plus you have the annoying "compensation cycles" that kick in after 4 hours of use. I usually turn my monitor off if i get up and walk away for any period pf gime. Bang. flashing orange light. I was worried about these cycles happening so frequently. Now i just leave it on snd let the computer put it in standby after a minute of idle time. It is annoying but i do worry a bit about burn in. This is my first OLED monitor.

I believe you can change it from four hours to 24 hours. I'm AFK right now, but LLMs seem to confirm it. Also, if it says it's about to go into the refresh mode, you can cancel out of it. I don't keep icons on my desktop, use dark mode, and auto hide the taskbar. Between that and the pixel refresh, I'm cautiously optimistic I'll be okay. Plus, the warranty covers burn-in.

small text doesn't look bad. but keep in mind, typical OLED panel color saturation. i would say upgrade 2 x 27" monitors. or get wide screen monitor and use 27" left and right as extend monitors like my current set up.
