I rescue ferals. The two door thing is a myth. Also, it does not stay as warm with 2 entrances

Price is good, but... I don't think this works for feral cats. Generally, you need to have two entry/exit holes on opposite sides, so the house doesn't feel like a trap...

Huh. We have two with two doors that had multiple occupants all winter, and one (about the same size as the medium here) with one door that has been unoccupied. I took that as confirmation of the two door thing. Maybe there's another factor I'm missing, but if so, I don't know what it is.

I like the way it is off the ground. I have two from a different brand and put closed cell foam sheet under it to insulate it from the ground. Mine has a heating pad that turns on when pressure is applied so it is only on when the cat lays on it. This one looks like it has a timer and temp settings. I prefer the pressure sensitive type.

What I mean is that the need to have 2 doors is a myth. They can use either but two is not any better or safer. It actually makes it harder to keep warm in extreme cold like we get here in the northeast. You can use whatever works though. The fact is that you care enough to help and that is all that matters.

Could you share a link to the pressure- triggered one?

Same but I mine had a "coupon price" checkbox when viewing the cart. That brought it down to $24 for me. The coupon code was invalid to me.

For outdoors during winter, not really. I got one for my 14 year old chihuahua. Her achy bones will enjoy the heat. Her heated dog mat stopped working several months ago. If it doesn't work out I'll give it to my parents who feed stray cats and have them sleeping all over anyways.

One-door heated houses can be great in a garage, porch, tornado shelter, or even indoors for cats that hate cold floors and want a warm little cave. It's basically a tiny heated studio apartment for any cat ready to sign a lease.

For feral/outdoor cats though, two doors are usually better. One door can turn the shelter into a trap if a bully cat, raccoon, or dog blocks the entrance.

With two doors it becomes a tunnel instead of a dead end, so there's always an escape route. Outdoor cats follow a simple rule: never nap somewhere you can't make a dramatic exit.

Also cat rescuer - depends on how feral the cat is. Some are comfortable without a back-door exit, some aren't.
