not for personal experience, but interwebs suggest DNA of scents like Hugo Boss Bottled Absolu.

I do!

I bought in on the last sale. I have a large collection of fragrances (~400) ranging from the super-cheapies, the dupes, the designer, the niche and the extra pricey ones.. I found the last one to be pretty generic middle-eastern scent smelling.. it didn't really do anything unique and wasn't a great dupe of anything.. it was actually very weak (whereas the oud/rose stuff tends to be super strong and long-lasting, even in cheapies).

For $12, it's probably worth it. I'll probably buy this one for $12 since I'm a sucker for stuff like that and always wanting to try newer stuff out.

With that said, this brand is HEAVILY pushing these with influencers/discounts/ads.. these are regularly going on sale, and almost any video review is a paid one, so keep any influencer/youtube/tiktok videos with a grain of salt.

For $12, I'll bite on this one. For the $30 price they try to charge usually? I'd pass.

This is made by Coty. Country where it's made is Spain. nothing to do wi the Middle Eastern frags - just an attempt to take a bite of the M.E. frag. pie.
Paid-for (sponsored influencers) just paraphrase the 'official' description. if you hear 'fougere' in their reviews - the review is 100% sponsored and is likely fake, not authentic...

The scent profile indicates an amber note, but some of the reviews compare it to Dior Sauvage. There is so little description of this fragrance online. Not buying a another blind buy without knowing any detail about the scent profile.

I haven't tried this one yet, the one I bought before was "Oud Velvet", which to me smelled a bit like margiela's Under the Stars, but much weaker. It's the only time I've had an oud scent that I felt was weak and not long lasting, since that's usually an easy ticket to lasting days.

This one supposedly smells like Absolu, but I'll reply back after I get it in!

I really like fragrances, and I'll probably never use most of them fully, but having the option of using them is great for me. I've re-sold some after using part of a bottle (in some cases making more than I paid, if they got discontinued), other people sell decants (buying a bottle, creating a 30ml decant to sell to recover some costs), others just keep the whole bottles.

A lot of fragrance discounters will sell legitimate bottles at a fraction of the price, then there are also the dupes/clones

I tend to spray a lot and spray a few fragrances a day, so I do use a lot. Use it after the shower or before work, another before bed, sometimes another if going out. If you're just the type that uses them only on special occasions, definitely look into the dupes/clones or even buying a smaller decant, like a 30ml, for a much smaller fraction of the price

Thanks for responding, I am so terrified of having a collection I will never use/use fully -- like the makeup I bought over the years... Finding legitimate fractional product would be a challenge maybe I just need to join some local fragrance club or something. Thanks and have a great week!

One other note, fragrances will last for many, many years. I have some from the 90s that are still smelling great. Just keep them out of the bathroom and out of direct sunlight.

Makeup will go bad after about 2 years

This is more to say you don't have to worry about using up a full bottle in a short period, it can be a very long lasting and ongoing thing

I'm a big fan of Leather+Oud scents, a lot of people seem to get turned off by both scents so I wouldnt really consider any to be "safe" blind buys, but my top recommendations would be:

Maison margiela - under the stars. A really nice leather+oud scent that doesn't get too "barnyard'y" smelling like some do. This one seemed to come out, flop, and it got really heavily discounted for a while so you might be able to find some good deals if you look around. Msrp is still high, but I found a big bottle (3.4 oz) for $55 and the minis (1 oz) for $20 from their outlet stores.

Jawhara's Oud Velvet also smelled somewhat similar, just not very long lasting, and it only ran me like $9 during the last sale they did. Normal price is $15-25

One of the best ouds out there is probably Louis Vuitton Ombre Nomade. Super pricey, super oud'y, not much leather, but there are some great cheapie dupes like "Jean Lowe - Ombre" and "Jean Lowe - Noir", same scent, they just had to rename it. Goes for maybe $25, super potent and smells just like the original (I have both)

YSL's Cuir is another one that hit a steep price drop. Normal msrp is around $300, but it recently hit some major price drops (I paid $80ish at the official outlet), it's more leathery but does get a little bit barnyard'y smelling so definitely not for everyone.

Leather and Ouds can already be a little tricky by themselves, and together they can be a little overwhelming for some but the above were all really solid ones for me.

Not quite both notes, but I'd also recommend checking out the originals or dupes of: Tom Ford ombrea leather, Tom Ford Tuscan leather, Dior fahrenheit (and fahrenheit le parfum), gucci guilty absolute (one that gets a little funky, not for everyone), Oud satin mood
