To make it easy for those that keep asking
Key Card (Shipped or picked up in a store, as long as it doesn't say anything about new subscribers) = Can renew existing subscription or start a new one.
Digital Download / emailed Key = Only for new subscribers (but you can create a new account and log your existing file into that account).
This is the same for every deal from every retailer. This rule is set by Quicken and as of about a year ago is enforced.

I did too. It's owned by private equity and they've slowly increased the subscription price. Have you ever heard of ensh*tification?
FWIW, Staples price via that link is $45.59.
The price was $41.93 during the holidays last year so this is slightly more.

If you are not a Sam's member, Walmart has a similar deal for $44.99

Overall, not the best price, but it is at the moment, as my subscription expired last week.
Wish Newegg still carried it and had those sales a couple times a year.
I need the Business & Personal subscription, and Staples doesn't have it in stock anywhere. Walmart has only the new subscriber version.
Crazy that it has to be a physical item sold through a retail store just to get the renewal code, to avoid paying double the price directly to quicken.
