Did you just assume prices are the same nationwide, or that he lives near you?
I know there is no universe where he's spending 19 more dollars than me

Perhaps, but if I'm paying $10 to $15 for a burger I will only pick places where I can dine in and the food is brought to my table. Plus I will know the food is hot and fresh. Five Guys loves pick up orders because it drastically lowers their overhead. Kudos to you for helping to lower their labor costs and increase their profit margins even more.
Also, to all the folks here that love Five Guys, please explain to me why they have to do BOGO offers at all. In and Out doesn't need gimmicks to get folks to come in. If they just made their prices more reasonable I'd definitely go there more often.
Actually, places that offer BOGO or 50% off deals are the first places I go and funny thing is, I should be the guy who would buy IN N Out at regular price because on CA's wage of $16.90/hr. a burger could be $8.44 proportioned to the cost of $0.15 hamburger on a $0.30/hr. wage in 1940. Still, I will never frequent them because they do not have deals.

Okay fine, there was that one time that I decided to try a plain burger without anything from IN N Out, a vanilla shake, and fries (with nothing on it) just to see what the hype was about and it was nothing. I tasted two buns, a beef patty, vanilla extract and fried potatoes. That was it. I am glad that with plain burgers, Five Guys does give more topping and sauce options. That is probably what you would be paying for. IN N Out, I think they just have the usual and Thousand Island that they use for animal style?

Edit: I just did a look up online and there are affordable options even in CA. Get the $8.99 Little Hamburger x 2. The cost would be $17.98 not including tax. Each burger from the BOGO would be $4.495 on $16.90/hr.! That would beat what I had to pay on the wage I have to deal with. I had paid $6.99 or $3.495 on $7.25/hr. You still have $16.90-8.99 = $7-8 that you could use to buy a gallon of gas!

You got everything plain, and a vanilla shake, and complain about no taste?

Huh, my 5G location still stuffs the heck out of us with the fries---a "regular" size order of them is more than enough for two people.
I was talking about the "little" size. The regular is 100% more than enough for two I agree. But a decade or so ago you could order a little and basically get as much as a regular had.

Last last time we ate there 1 adult and 2 kids (grill cheese sandwichs) and LG fries was about 55$. it should not cost almost 20$ per person to eat a burger. Are they charging for every condiments there? its a shame there burgers are pretty good compared to other rest6
The large burgers are Five Guys are $10 each now. Add FF and drinks -- it can add up fast for a small family. The coupon is good though for just 2 people w/o fries or drinks.

That's because In-N-Out burgers are TINY, more bread than meat. Half the food and not great quality at all, especially the dry cardboard-like frozen fries.
Frozen fries? Clearly you've never been to In-N-Out. But thanks for pretending you have.

Cause they make much better quality burgers for what, maybe $1-2 more than the competition? And actual fresh-cut not frozen fries that taste GOOD, not cardboard?
Quote from Zorba1446 :
Yep. A "regular" order of fries easily feeds 1-3 people.

Where do you live a burger is $4, I'm moving there. $12 for the basic to start here. Even at half price, I can get Waygu burgers (in name only ) from Costco or BJ's for
You can get a Whopper every Wednesday for $3.99 in the app. Not a premium burger, but pretty decent.
