Oakley Assault 2 boots are being praised as lightweight, comfortable leather tactical boots with easy lacing and a slip resistant rubber outsole. The coyote color is just the finish, not coyote leather, and the model is described as a 6 inch boot with full grain leather and an EVA midsole. Fit is the main concern, with repeated reports of an extremely narrow opening and no extra wide option, which may be tight for wide feet. Durability also looks limited, since the soles are said to wear smooth after about a year.
Common Questions (4)
They run narrow, with multiple comments warning that the fit is extremely narrow and that wide or double-wide feet may feel squeezed. A B-width wearer said they might fit, while standard D widths can feel sloppy for some and extra-wide sizes are not available.
The soles reportedly last about a year before wearing smooth. They are also described as not too aggressive, so they may be less suited to shoppers wanting a very deep tread for traction.
These are the Oakley Assault 2 boots: 6-inch height, 1.6-1.8 mm full-grain Nappa bovine leather, injection EVA midsole, slip-resistant rubber outsole, molded EVA insert, metal speed-loop lacing, and braided nylon laces. The "coyote leather" wording appears to refer to the color, not actual coyote leather.
For some sizes, the total after shipping can be close to Amazon pricing, and one size 9 used listing was only $4 less than new. That makes the deal more compelling for shoppers who value return options or want a specific size, but less compelling when the price gap is small.
