Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a stylish turn based RPG with action game timing, built around parries, dodges, and a fresh combat twist. The story, music, and visuals draw strong praise, and the game is described as packed with content, with runs stretching past 60 hours. The main caveat is that the battle rhythm and story pacing can feel repetitive, confusing, or slow to click, especially if RPGs are not your thing. At $24.49, it looks like a strong value for players who want a cinematic RPG with skill based combat.
Players who like JRPG-style turn-based gameplay and want a "fresh take" because the game adds parry/dodge to a more traditional Final Fantasy-like structure while still feeling like turn-based RPG combat.
Gamers who want a long single-player time sink because multiple commenters say it's worth it for dozens of hours (e.g., "over 60 hours of story" and "consumed my free time" while completing lots of content).
RPG fans who want a mostly turn-based experience but don't mind parry/dodge timing because the combat is still "mostly a turn based RPG" even when you dodge/parry on enemy turns.
People who enjoy story-heavy games and won't skip dialogue/cutscenes because commenters say skipping character dialogue and playing with sound off can make you not enjoy it.
Players who are willing to learn the parry system and use audio cues because one commenter says parrying is best done by listening for the audio cue rather than watching the attack.
Players who dislike parry/dodge-heavy combat because multiple commenters describe it as a "parry simulator" and say they got bored or found it overrated after some hours.
Turn-based RPG newcomers who want a straightforward entry point because one commenter says it "shouldn't be your first game to get into RPG" due to a convoluted story and turn-based combat being a big commitment.
People who skip dialogue/cutscenes or play with the sound off because a commenter warns you may not enjoy it if you do that.
Gamers who bounce off slow story pacing because one commenter says the story "dragging" and having explanations arrive only toward the end turned them away.
Players who want a smooth difficulty curve for parry timing because one commenter reports the parry timing feels off-easy early, then later it spikes with "obnoxious/unintuitive" patterns.
Anyone who needs guaranteed Steam activation from the seller because a commenter flags a "grey market" key risk with Loaded, saying keys may not activate reliably long-term and you may have limited recourse if they don't.

Such a good, emotional, and weird ride. My favourite game in a good while.

Apparently, according to you, asking the community about Switch 2 screen protectors and ThinkPads are more valid than me asking for opinions about a game I've never played. My mistake, Professor.
At first, it's nonsensical and confusing. You have these super dramatic characters doing this super weird suicide mission in a super dark and depressing setting and then this other big puffy flying marshmallow man shows up. I remember being super annoyed that such a whimsical character existed in such a dark world. When I found out why this big fella existed, and what he represented, I cried.
I don't really remember the story beyond the big "wow" M Night Shyamalan moment. I remember "finishing" the game and being disappointed at the ending I chose. I also remember that I could mow down just about everything with the build I was using, and then there was some boss that had something to do with a character you hardly ever see that made me want to throw my controller. I stopped playing after that.
So several things can be right at once. The people who say this game has a beautiful and emotional story are right. Those who say it's nonsensical are also right. The people who say the combat is fun are right, but so are the people who say the combat is repetitive, grindy, and with a stupid difficulty curve are also right. People who say it's amazing are right. But people who say it's overrated are also right. It's not the best game ever, but it's worth playing, especially for $25.
If you're picking this up, which I would, I would visit a mod website like nexus. I'd definitely get the mini map mod, and I didn't feel bad at all about getting the mod that makes it easier to parry once you get far enough in the game.
