Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a stylish turn based RPG with action game timing, built around parries, dodges, and a fresh combat twist. The story, music, and visuals draw strong praise, and the game is described as packed with content, with runs stretching past 60 hours. The main caveat is that the battle rhythm and story pacing can feel repetitive, confusing, or slow to click, especially if RPGs are not your thing. At $24.49, it looks like a strong value for players who want a cinematic RPG with skill based combat.
The combat loop can feel immersive because parrying and timing help drive attacks during enemy turns.
The game can offer a long story experience with over 60 hours of content for the deal price.
The visuals and music are repeatedly described as beautiful and memorable across play sessions.
The game can include enough activities to keep players busy, including bosses, records, and an endless tower.
Combat can become repetitive or frustrating when dodging relies on similar actions too often.
The story pacing can drag, with many leads and explanations arriving only toward the end.
The parry timing and difficulty curve can feel off, with later spikes that use obnoxious or unintuitive patterns.
Steam activation may be unreliable long-term if the keys come from grey-market sources rather than the title owner.

Does that sound like it's like Cyberpunk to you?

Such a good, emotional, and weird ride. My favourite game in a good while.

Apparently, according to you, asking the community about Switch 2 screen protectors and ThinkPads are more valid than me asking for opinions about a game I've never played. My mistake, Professor.
At first, it's nonsensical and confusing. You have these super dramatic characters doing this super weird suicide mission in a super dark and depressing setting and then this other big puffy flying marshmallow man shows up. I remember being super annoyed that such a whimsical character existed in such a dark world. When I found out why this big fella existed, and what he represented, I cried.
I don't really remember the story beyond the big "wow" M Night Shyamalan moment. I remember "finishing" the game and being disappointed at the ending I chose. I also remember that I could mow down just about everything with the build I was using, and then there was some boss that had something to do with a character you hardly ever see that made me want to throw my controller. I stopped playing after that.
So several things can be right at once. The people who say this game has a beautiful and emotional story are right. Those who say it's nonsensical are also right. The people who say the combat is fun are right, but so are the people who say the combat is repetitive, grindy, and with a stupid difficulty curve are also right. People who say it's amazing are right. But people who say it's overrated are also right. It's not the best game ever, but it's worth playing, especially for $25.
If you're picking this up, which I would, I would visit a mod website like nexus. I'd definitely get the mini map mod, and I didn't feel bad at all about getting the mod that makes it easier to parry once you get far enough in the game.
