I thought small engine used to be straight 30W.
I actually use full synthetic 5W30 wally tech stuff, cheap and works great on my aging lawn mower. Easy to start and when warmed up engine is super smooth. Had the same oil in there over a year and it has not changed color and still clear. Cheap Wally mower and it still runs great, but rust is eating up the deck.
Use a soap plunger thingy to drain out oil as my Wally mower no longer comes with drain plug.

Oh and definitely use the stabilizer additive for that dumb A$$ corn crap they put in petrol these days
