The Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE is a strong budget air cooler that punches above its price, with solid thermal performance and low noise. It handles everything from older Intel chips to Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9 parts, stays under 80C in some builds, and can remain silent after fan curve tuning. Installation is described as easy, but RAM clearance can be tight and some AM5 listings may not include the AMD mounting kit. At around $32, it is a good value for compact or mainstream builds that do not need a huge heatsink.
The cooler can handle demanding workloads without CPU throttling during gaming sessions.
The cooler can fit compact builds when fan height is adjusted for RAM clearance.
The cooler can keep a Ryzen 5 7600 under 80°C while staying quiet under load.
The cooler can perform well in small ITX cases while cooling a 9950x3D effectively.
The listing naming can be confusing because photos may show the Phantom Spirit instead of the Peerless Assassin.
The current discount may feel underwhelming compared with typical pricing history.
Some Amazon listings may omit the AMD kit, which can complicate AM5 compatibility.
Full-load temperatures can reach around 80°C in a 9900K HTPC, which may be higher than some buyers expect.
