Apple Watch Series 9 GPS plus cellular here is mainly appealing as an Apple certified refurb that should arrive close to new, with reports of brand new components, a one year warranty, and AppleCare plus eligibility. The stainless steel version stands out because it uses sapphire crystal and a tougher case, while the aluminum model is repeatedly called out for easier scratching. The same price for aluminum and stainless makes the stainless option look especially strong. A separate note says warranty dates should be checked on arrival, since the listing may not always match the device record.
Common Questions (4)
It can arrive looking and functioning brand new, with reports of sealed or near-new condition and only the retail packaging missing. The main caveat is that some buyers question whether every unit matches that description, so checking the watch and warranty on arrival is wise.
No. Apple official refurbished is described as having a new screen, shell, battery, cable, and accessories, with only the box different, while the Woot "Apple Certified Preowned" listing is treated as a separate program. The practical difference is that official Apple refurb is the closer-to-new option and is said to include AppleCare+ eligibility.
Yes, the stainless steel model is the better pick at the same price because it uses sapphire crystal and a more durable stainless case, and all stainless steel models are cellular. The aluminum version uses ion-x glass, which scratches more easily.
It is listed as having a one-year warranty, but the warranty status should be checked after delivery because one unit showed an earlier expiration date than expected. The watch itself was reported to look and function brand new, so the issue appears to be warranty-record related rather than condition-related.

Apple refurbished is indeed like new.

So, if you want to get the cheapest deal on the same CPU then the 6 and 9 are the ones to get, everything else is some slight add-on feature or extra mm in size. 9-11 are also the ones that can actually do some decent international roaming, though nothing is a global watch. I went from 4-7-10 and will see what the 12 brings and then likely get a deal for the 12 once the 13 or 14 show up.
I can highly recommend the SS models! The harder glasses and harder frame make all the difference.
