It's hard to trust anybody who says anything without an explanation.

For anybody else curious, 316 stainless has a minimum of 2% molybdenum, which gives it excellent resistance against chlorides and salt.

If you are using this to hold up a loose exhaust and you happen to live in an area where they use salt during winter, 316 will prevent you from having to replace it every year. Then again, a 100 pack of 12" 316 ties is closer to $30 (based on my initial searches).

I have a bunch of these and almost every one I installed has fallen off. They must be under constant tension to work. That's how the lock mechanism functions. It is not like a nylon zip tie. The second the lock is not under tension it releases. The tool is what you need to really get the tension to the point where it won't release. But if you are putting it around something flexible then it will eventually come lose on its own. Calling it a zip tie gives people the wrong impression and the false belief it is interchangeable functionally with a zip tie and it is not. It should probably be called something like metal tension band.

Of course I bought these without reading that you need a special tool to get them really tight. Eh, for the price I'll use them with pliers and hopefully it will be good enough.

I got 25 of these when a friend ordered a bundle and shared them. Still have about 15 left. That was maybe 10 years ago. They're good but the plastic ones are easier to work with for my occasional lightweight needs.
