I give my cat I half for breakfast and one half for dinner along with his crunchies everyday. He's fat and happy

ok, but theres a lot of caviats to that. if your cat is also eating dry food in addition to the wet food they are being given, which many are, obviously you don't need to feed them that much of the wet food. Caloric intake is key. also if your cat is eating cat treats, churus, etc all that has to be factored in.

When I've used these in cats ranging from 8-11 lbs, typically 2 a day suffices. given 1/2 a tub at a time as they get hungry.

If this is their only source of food for the entire day, you may need to use 3 of the individual snap aparts per day.

what exactly does that have to do with what the manufacturer is recommending you feed the cat which is what I was quoting?

it has a lot to do with that. look up cat nutrition and how many calories a cat should have per day.

as I said, I never, ever given any cat of ours more than 3 of the break aparts in a single day, typically two, but in addition they have a bowl of dry food and other nutrition sources.

That recommendation is based on THIS BEING THEIR SOLE SOURCE of food, but even then, it seems high as I can't imagine a 9 lb cat eating 9 of these in a 12-14 hour period.
