That was 12 years ago... and they discontinued it because franchise owners were hemorrhaging money on the promotion due to rising costs. For the record, most footlong subs prior to the promotion starting in '08 were $6 or more. The recession was literally the main reason why they ran it.
This would be a good deal if the wage in my state was at least $17.84/hr. Back when footlongs were $0.49, the minimum wage was $1.25
I was just doing some gas price deal comparisons and then it hit me. There is one state or district that has that high or higher of a minimum wage. These $6.99 coupon/code could be best used in Washington D.C. And believe it or not, my mom came to visit, wanting me to save these coupons I receive in the mail (I normally trash them). So there you go. If you live in Washington, D.C.; the deal is wage appropriate. Good luck!
every subway has that same funky weird smell from what they call bread - rather starve
I would not starve, but I would keep one day a week where you fast (just drink nothing but water). It feels great! When I went for my physical last year, I did not eat for 32 hours because I wanted a good blood report. It can be done.

A 40% increase over their $5 foot longs for a sandwich that doesn't even have real meat! Their checken has less than 50% chicken DNA and their tuna has zero:
Lab tests conducted for a 2021–2022 lawsuit and media reports revealed that many Subway tuna samples had " no detectable tuna DNA". While some tests found other animal proteins (chicken, pork), experts state the lack of DNA is likely due to the tuna being heavily processed/cooked, which breaks down identifiable DNA. -- CNN

If you stopped paying $7, then $5 footlongs will come back. Why pay more and make excuses for the higher the cost. Supply and demand. Too many people are willingly paying the higher price. This is not a deal.

I stopped going to Subway entirely. This goes for pretty much all eating out. That being said, $5 footlongs is wishful thinking. I wasn't making excuses, just sharing the reality. It's one thing if only Subway raised food prices, but sadly everyone has. So they're just taking advantage of the situation.

Except you really wouldn't. Starvation is terrible. I rather eat bugs than starve.
Subway is pretty good though but I'm poor and eating out is 3x price of simple foods at home.

Not really worth it to travel 20 minutes with the price of gas skyrocketing.
