Would the wood not rot or warp from being in direct contact with wet soil?

Not as fast as your crop, flower or its roots. That single hole under each plank doesn't seem like sufficient drainage. You can always drill more holes and add a layer of dead sticks but it may decrease integrity. If you're worried about the wood, charring the inside with an open flame will make it rot and water resistant. Overall for the price, I recommend picking a couple of free pallets from your local grocery store and building your own.

Wouldn't be able to build anything of this quality or design using old pallets. The quality of the wood used will be different and additional resources for the posts would be needed along with the miter saw to make the proper cuts on the smaller pieces.Building your own would be a great passion project but that requires the patience to put stuff like this together and know proper building/assembly technique.

I need to choose one of these deals with the planters but I can't decide which one. I don't know if this is the one for being out in the yard though. It does look nice.
