The Evo series offers the classic British speaker sound: natural, musical, and addictive, free from listening fatigue while adding a level of transparency, ultra-low colouration, and excellent detail. These are the perfect kick-back-and-relax music speakers, in contrast to shrill/bright speakers that may wow you for the first 5 minutes but leave your ears aching two hours later.
That warm, laid-back quality is also more forgiving of less-than-pristine streaming music sources...these are not the kind of speakers that require you to use only physical media or convert all your MP3s to FLAC! Easy to drive for most receivers, rather than needing a high dollar external amp.
For most kinds of music, the 4.2's downfiring ports provide a bass fullness/presence that makes a subwoofer not as urgent a necessity as smaller bookshelf speakers, while not visually dominating your space as much as full sized towers.
