Is warranty even needed on a lens? I can't say I've had many lenses but I've not needed repairs on any of them, leave alone warranty...

Can't say that I've had to use a warranty on any of my lenses either.

Awesome lens.

At this price for a prime you don't need a warranty.

If you are talking about a 4-figure lens with zoom, stabilization, etc. (more stuff that can go wrong), then sure maybe...but warranty is only for 1 year which isn't very long.

Or just DIY a warranty using Amazon's return policy. Give it a real good once-over, use it as much as you can in the first month, and if something goes wrong, just return it as a defective product.

I imagine the risk of something failing between months 2-12 is pretty slim if it makes it through month 1. Most manufacturer defects show up right away.
